September Moon is a walk in the country on a balmy evening – one in which the cool crispness of autumn has not necessarily taken over. The leaves on the trees are just barely thinking about turning, but for the most part they are still green. It is a different kind of green, though, than what we find in the midst of summer: then, the foliage is lush, thick, verdant, and growing.

By September, though the leaves on the trees are still full, they have a slightly different – wilted? – look to them as nature thinks less about growing new leaves and branches and vines, and more about the colors she will use on her autumn palette.

I am a fine art painter who creates representational images celebrating light, life, and color. A commercial illustrator for more than 20 years, I have been painting for most of my life, and in the last 13 years have focused exclusively on fine art.
