It is silent, very silent. The day is waning; the sun, though still warm, battles against the cool breeze of twilight, and a young woman sits at the rim of the Grand Canyon, Arizona, meditating. This is a moment of Serenity – a quiet time of peace and aloneness in which one has time and space to marvel at the sheer majesty of the view ahead. Color abounds – in the very cliffs of the Grand Canyon, following layer upon layer of one another as they disappear into the misty aura of the canyon’s horizon. In the foreground, red, red rocks make it clear that one is in the desert lands of Arizona. And the woman herself, her black hair gleaming with an almost purple hue, is wrapped in teal green blanket that, at the same time, is one with its landscape yet apart from it. So also is the woman. Still, silent, thoughtful, she blends into the rocks and the brush, and one could easily walk by her without noticing her presence. But she is also very separate – a human being in the midst of...

I am a fine art painter who creates representational images celebrating light, life, and color. A commercial illustrator for more than 20 years, I have been painting for most of my life, and in the last 13 years have focused exclusively on fine art. I celebrate images that invite the viewer to step into the artwork and experience a sense of joy, peace, freedom, encouragement, meditation, and thought. There's a lot of angry art out there, as well as a lot of shallow pop. I choose to use the abilities and experience I have to promote beauty and goodness.
