Description
Settler's Park in Boulder, Colorado where I live is a rock outcropping that provided shelter to the pioneers as they traveled west in their wagon trains. Here, I have created one of my watercolor "overlay" paintings. First, I paint the background, and then I create separate little paintings of all of the objects, animals, and people that I want to include. I scan all of the paintings into my computer, place the elements, and adjust the transparency which results in a "ghost-like" effect. I truly enjoy creating this series of intuitive, historical pieces.

I often think that, Jerry. I imagine camping by these sheltered rocks provided a bit of respite.
