The bay window in our great room frosts heavily on the inside when the outside temperature gets down into the teens. On a January morning the ice crystals grew into particularly pretty formations looking like leaves, fronds and feathers. Once sunlight and the warmer room air hit the window the miniature icy formations melted away.

In this close-up image a handful of the ice crystals caught the light just right to really stand out. Their silvery look was highlighted with a slight bit of red tinting.
