Using as a wallet
I painted this watercolor painting for my story book called "My Brother and I" by Hanne Lore Koehler. This story for children aged 4 to 8 is about the sports and activities that two brothers enjoy together through the four seasons as they grow up. Like most children, they have a special wish for a pet which, for now, lives in their imagination. This watercolor illustration depicts the two boys playing sports with their imaginary dog. One of the boys is up to bat in a baseball game while their imaginary dog is the catcher behind home plate. The other brother is playing soccer in the background.
The illustrations for this children's book are hand-painted watercolor paintings for which I used photos of our grandsons as reference. I composed the scene and the imaginary dog from my imagination, including details of the subjects and an impressionistic style for background trees and foliage.
