This painting recently painted was finished off by adding an eagle soaring in the foreground. This is done from two photos I shot from a small gauge rail up to the Canadian boarder from Skagway, following the route of the gold rush miners back at the turn of the century. I had no idea we would see so many eagles there... I was amazed. Alaska trip 2007.

Donald Maier graduated from the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Arts, in Newark, New Jersey in 1968. He won several state and local show awards in the early seventies, including 1st place in oils at the Garden State Art Center in 1971, 1st place for Watercolor at the Red Bank Festival of Arts in 1972 and an Honorable Mention in the Emerging Artists exhibit at Rutgers University in 1973.
