Mount Dora, a charming, one-hundred plus year old historic village in the heart of Central Florida, spills down a rolling hill to the shores of Lake Dora, with a very walkable historic downtown district. Home to a grand old Florida railroad hotel, the Lakeside Inn, and nearly a dozen B&Bs, Mount Dora, Lake Dora and the Dora Canal make a romantic getaway.
The quaint, charming old town, noted for its crafts and antique shops, historical buildings, and beautiful scenery, is the "Antique Capital of Florida", where the Renninger's Twin Markets draw thousands to their Antique Mall and Flea Market, along with downtown Art Shows, Craft Fairs, Music Festivals, Theatre, Antique Shows, Classic Wooden Boat Shows, Sailing Regatta's and Holiday Lighting Ceremonies and Parades. It is also a popular film location. The 1981 movie Honky Tonk Freeway was filmed here. Mt. Dora's Historical downtown and the Lakeside Inn were painted pink for the film, and an Indian Elephant was shipped in and taught to water ski on Lake Dora.
Mount Dora in Florida's Lake County is a place to relax. Go fishing or just sit in a rocking chair on the rambling front porch with a glass of wine in a charming lakeside setting and enjoy the city's great small town atmosphere.
