Description
MODEL RELEASED. Sperm whale skeleton preparation. Museum conservator, Abdi Hedayat, cleans a sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus) skeleton using high pressure jet spray. After soaking the bones in warm water for over a month, the jet spray will remove the final remnants of soft tissue still stuck to the bones. This whale specimen was found stranded on Henne Strand, Jutland, Denmark. It measured 14 meters in length and weighed an estimated 30 tonnes. The skeleton will be cleaned and re-assembled for display at the Zoological Museum in Copenhagen.
