Lovely effects and image

Indeed you have taken the common to produce something completely uncommon. Congratulations on all your achievements that I read in your comment area. Excellent work.

What an incredible work of Art! Just stunning!!

This is extremely beautiful, if the pelican was your first effort at water (and I think 56 hours is going well!) then your mastery has really reached something that must satisfy you.

Frances McMahon replied:

Leonie, apologies for me not getting back to you sooner. Thanks so much for your kind comments, fellow Aussie! Means a huge amount to me when other artists appreciate what I do...a HUGE compliment indeed. Thanks again!

Thanks for your comment. Coming from you, it's real compliment. You are a well skilled artist. Hans

I love my beautiful "A Breath of Fresh Air" tote bag by Ellen Watkins! The image is so inspiring, uplifting and empowering, and the size is absolutely perfect. I love that the handles are long and I can easily grab the bag and swing it over my shoulder (I hate bags w/ handles that are short and make it uncomfortable to carry over my shoulder). This bag is particularly important to me because of how it makes me feel. I'm one of the co-leaders of a women's group and I have to carry a lot of materials to my meetings that are emotionally heavy due to the nature of our meetings. I wanted a bag for the materials that made me feel strong, powerful and whole. This bag does exactly that. And I love supporting Ellen who is a local artist and visionary! I love her work and I absolutely love this bag. It's perfect for anyone who wants a large tote bag that makes them feel beautiful and inspired!

Artist's Description

Pacific Black Ducks are a common sight in Australia. Being considered another "boring brown bird" by some, I wanted to prove that a common, "plain", species may indeed be an object of great beauty and interest. This painting was a finalist in the inaugural Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize 2003. It was also the winner of the WABA Wildlife Art Award 2005, and received a Highly Commended award at the Wildlife Art @ Discovery 2007 exhibition. Original painting collection of the artist. Now available as beautiful canvas prints, greeting cards and prints through this website!

About Frances McMahon

Frances McMahon

BACKGROUND: Born in January 1965, AUSTRALIAN artist Frances McMahon has had an avid passion in illustrating Australia's beautiful native birds since the age of five. Her talent was apparent at an early age, accepting her first commission when she was around fourteen, to renowned artist Paul Ashton Delprat, now principal of the Julian Ashton Art School. Paul swapped her painting for one of his etchings ~ a swap Frances was delighted with! Her original paintings hang in private collections in New York, Minnesota, Ontario and her home country of Australia. Developed over many years, her self-taught technique consists of airbrushed backgrounds (liquid acrylic), with the main work completed in watercolour and transparently applied...
