One Way Conversation at Three
Under a starless sky limned in moonlight I lie,
but you have murdered sleep with your steel and your words.
Always you intrude, silent, in disguise,
stalking whatever it is you feel you must vanquish.
Leave me something I can lean on, won't you?
I am strong enough to stand alone, but not without
knowing there's a nearby scantling should I falter in the dark.
