"Stoneleigh", is an original watercolor, painted en plein aire, 22" X 15" on 300-pound Kilimanjaro cold press paper using American Journey and Davinci paints. The estate in Villanova, PA has a long and rich history. For nearly 80 years, Stoneleigh was the home of the Haas family, who donated the property to Natural Lands in 2016 so that it would remain preserved forever. After much preparation, planning, and planting, Stoneleigh: A Natural Garden opened to the public in May of 2018.

Virgil Carter, BWS, PWS, PWCS, TWS, is a watercolor painter, teacher, demonstrator, workshop leader, author and Internet commentator. He paints primarily in watercolor, both en plein aire and from his studio in Boerne, TX. Primarily a representational painter, Virgil paints a variety of subjects, but enjoys most painting landscapes and town/urban subjects. He is concerned with telling stories in paint which share a personal idea, emotion or feeling about each subject. Color and light figure strongly in all of his work.
