Description
The Tenryu-ji Temple and garden is in Arashiyama, in the hills to the west of Kyoto, Japan. This is an UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ancient Kyoto. Here is a glimpse of the koi pond and stone garden behind a picturesque leaning pine tree, which is in the visually quieter part of the garden. I enjoyed seeing the variegated bamboo ground cover beneath the pine tree.
In spring the other part of the garden is ablaze with the color of the tree blossoms and the flowering shrubs. There are wooden plant markers near many of the plants to identify them by name, as is done in a botanical garden. The gardens are meticulously maintained.
