I originally did this painting for a novelist friend of mine, who I have done some book covers for. He is a big fan of alligators and has an enormous collection of Alligator paraphenalia. I knew he wouldn't have a picture of something like this. The basic premise here is...........can the bird generate enough upward momentum before the reptile can flip around, leap up and snatch it. My bet is on the "gator"
