Description
Testing rice for arsenic. Chemist preparing samples of rice-based foods for tests to determine their arsenic content. Arsenic is found naturally in soil and water and therefore is taken up by rice plants as they grow. Although it is highly toxic, small doses can be tolerated and are allowed in foodstuffs. However, if these levels are breached the foodstuff could be dangerous to a consumer's health.
