The ruins of antiquity stand as a testament to longevity of stone, and the work of master masons. That there were so many master stone masons spread so far over vast regions tells the story of Rome's accomplishments.Probably the only engineering accomplishment greater than architecture were the Roman roads, allowing for incredible expansion during a time without electricity, the internal combustion engine, and anything but the rudest forms of communication.
This is the area of art that is the crossover between drawing and painting, focusing on the beauty of the technique, and letting the subject take a back seat.
David Zimmerman was born in Washington, D.C.He began his studies at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1964. He continued on in his training with Bill Woodward at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. In order to receive a bacalaureate degree he transferred to George Washington University, where he studied Drawing and Printmaking with Frank Wright. He was granted a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts in 1970.After a brief period of training with Phillip Pearlstein in Massachusetts, he returned to George Washington University where he again studied with William Woodward and Arthur Hall Smith.
