Description
At the Wildlife Safari Park in Winston, Oregon, there is an area where you can buy feed and feed the birds from your car as you are driving through. We didn’t figure this out until too late but it didn’t stop the Rhea’s from approaching us looking for a treat. This cutie had its head in our window soon after taking this photo. After naming this photo I realized this bird isn’t an ostrich but is a Rhea which is distantly related to the ostrich and is native to South America.

He's cute! - I have to say, I ended up with a very similar shot of a Stonehill Crane. I was trying out a new 400mm lens and was getting very frustrated not being able to focus... he was in frame but I just couldn't focus. Exasperated and disgusted with myself, I lowered the camera... only to find his beak was almost touching my nose :-) ... he had broken off rummaging in the bamboo and had been walking towards me very quickly thinking I had food !
