Description
The Galactic Center of the Milky Way rising above the summit of Mauna Kea, Hawaii. The twin 10 meter Keck telescopes are in the foreground. Keck 1 is projecting a laser beam into the sky to measure atmospheric distortion. The many small mirrors that make up the 10 meter mirror are then adjusted to iliminate as much of that distortion as possible.
