What is the beginning of holiness? That is to say, how does one begin to live a holy life-a life of Kedusha? It seems that the first step is that one must recognize in his or her mind and heart that the universe is absolutely holy, Divine. Everyone can realize this if he will only take a brief moment's respite from his vigorous pursuit of his desires. Even a short pause in the rushing torment of the river of his heat is enough as a start to realizing a program of reflection upon the world about him. Since the essence of all reality is Divine, absolutely Holy, therefore, any small examination and reflection upon any small part of existance should lead the person to to overwhelming realiztion of the nature of reality. And once he's grasped this, he must cherish this aquisition and dedicate his life to expanding this treasure until it encompasses his whole being.
