Beautiful Art Piece, Lois...............Blessings.....v./f.

Not my first time commenting on this shot...but it is so damn good. Love it.

Amazing find, well done! The dead vines at lower left add just the right touch.

Congratulations, Lois! Your image has been featured on the FAA group “Forgotten by Time”

Nice how the focus of your eyes follows that railing shadow up the stairs and to the doorway.

Lois, its a neat and great rendition with sharp details! Love the artsy look! Voted in the contest Windows and Doors!

Lois Bryan replied:

Jenny, thank you!!

I love this. It is an excellent composition with great lighting and color.

Lois Bryan replied:

Thank you, Greg!

Fantastic image with beautiful tones, lighting, and textures. Perfect for the Anything Rusty and Old contest - congratulations on the 2nd place win there.

Lois Bryan replied:

Jerry, thank you!! Appreciated!!

Awesome!!! The power that this rusted door reveals is quite stunning, especially given the texture of the blocks and lighting which pull you in!!! V/F

Lois Bryan replied:

love this....vf

Lois Bryan replied:

Thank you, Barbara!!!

I was there but never saw this door...well done! v

Lois Bryan replied:

Hi Marcia, thank you!!! Did you get out into the "yard" ... the big space where they let the inmates wander around a bit? It was sort of in the middle of the place. This door was on the opposite end of the yard from where we entered it.

Oh Wow...Lois, this is absolutely brilliant work here sweetheart!!! I love all the geometrics, the awesome earth tones, textures, and the incredible story this tells.....so many possibilities - this image gets my pick of the day!!! Joyce

Lois Bryan replied:

Joyce, thank you so much, sweetie. You're like me then, I get caught up in angles and lines ... the geometry ... of an image. Which is, admittedly, a bit of a snicker on my part, as geometry in school was NOT my best subject, lol!!!! Thanks again!!!!!

Gorgeous Louis!! Congratulations on such a super work!

Lois Bryan replied:

Hi Allison!!!! Thank you so much!!

CONGRATULATIONS!! Featured on Female Artists - Creative Women!!! Excellent artwork, really very well done!!! Voted

Lois Bryan replied:

Hi Madalena!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

Totally awesome Lois - and congratulations hon!!! Can't think that there was anything out there that could even compete with this! "Abandon hope, ye who enter here!" Dante must have been looking at a door like this! Fabulous work, my friend! xoxo

Lois Bryan replied:

Lianne ... you are such a sweetie ... thank you!!! How appropriate your quote!!!! This is really an extraordinary ... even tho the skies were clear blue and it was a beautiful day, still ... there was a feeling ... a mood ...

Great work Lois. congrats on your first place contest win. v/p

Lois Bryan replied:

Kathleen, thank you!!!!! WHEEEE!!! How exciting!!! There were so many gorgeous images entered!!!!!!!!

This turned out great. The pattern was simple and I minimized it enough to where it wouldn’t be blown out

Exactly what I expected! Fast shipping! All around perfect experience!

Very disappointed with the fabric. The colors are much more muted than they appear on line. I was hoping for a crisp colorful piece on a white background.

I like most of the products from Fine Art America. However, I think this product should be called a "sheet" rather than a Tapestry because I think of a tapestry as being woven and having some weight to it. The image is ok but somewhat blurred. This product might come in handy for tv production backgrounds with alternate images especially if the image is carried to the utmost edges.

Very nice and elegant, purchased it for my restaurant, got a lot of positive comments

I iam impressed with the art still, but with the product, not so much. The main problem with it is that it is printed from a picture with very low resolution, meaning that it can be viewed and enjoyed from rather afar. Even JPG artefacts are seen on it. Please print one in full resolution and send it to me, because this way you are not doing any good for your shop or for the benefit of the art creator.

Artist's Description

NOTE: FINE ART AMERICA WATERMARK WILL NOT APPEAR ON PURCHASED IMAGE. Second place winner in the Fine Art America "Anything Rusty and Old" contest September 13, 2013. First Place in the "Interesting Doors" contest on Fine Art America May 24, 2012. One of the locked doors to the open exercise area at the Pennsylvania Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I was fascinated with the textures of the stone and the rust and the harsh shadows created by the un filtered sunlight. Image taken with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens April 12, 2011. Image treated to hdr from a single, hand held .jpg image in Photomatix, duplicated twice Photoshop CS4. Also tinkered with in CapNX2 and Camera Raw. My thanks to Skeletal Mess and Princess of Shadows for the textures.

About Lois Bryan

Welcome to Lois Bryan Photography and Digital Art. I'm a photographer and digital artist living in the mid-Atlantic area of the US. My photography and photo-based works are based on my own images, unless otherwise specifically mentioned and credited. In so far as artistic processing goes, the photographer and "artist" in me are frequently at war, so that although my goal will always be to catch that perfect shot straight out of the camera, I really do love exploring the artistic and creative process. Often, the image itself will tell me what it wants, and I do my best to comply. I work with Photoshop and other image editing programs on my photos to the degree that in the end the original photo may not even be recognizable. More...
