MUSINGS FROM THE MAYOR
Recounted by Y.A. Duck?
Personal Secretary to The Mayor
The Mayor was in deep thought. Then he woke up with a start, not knowing where he was! He found himself soaring among the clouds, suddenly naked in front of an elementary school. Nobody seemed to notice. Then he woke up again! He could see but couldn’t move! There was a dark presence on his chest, holding him down and making it difficult to breathe! He could barely call out to The Right Honorable Spouse: “You fell asleep on me again! Get off!” and rolled her off.
For the days of tempestia, trials and tribulation ahead, people are searching for someone to lead them. Or follow them. Or something. Again. To lead or to follow, is that the question? Is that really the question? The Mayor has doubts.
Constituents want to know: is The Mayor a leader or a follower? Your Mayor has not decided. Is he a leader? Or is he a follower? Who to lead, who to follow? Government is filled with leaders and followers. There seem to be equal numbers of followers and leaders around, all completely interchangeable: one day a follower, next day a leader, next day a follower, &, &, and etc. Why does everyone need a leader or a follower? Why do they change around all the time? How does one tell when they are being lead or being followed? Does this improve our government? Nothing is apparent any more.
What is a follower? Some politicians take oaths and make pledges to follow something or someone just so they don’t have to think. What do they need those brains for? They weren’t thinking before they took those oaths and pledges. Your Mayor is not a follower! To him only the Pledge of Allegiance and the oath of office matter. All others are superfluous. Shame on you! Oh, yeah, add the sanctity of marriage vows. He doesn’t want to forget the ladies, especially the RHS. He pledges to constituents to take no oaths. and takes an oath to make no pledges. He abhors pledges and oaths so deeply that he signed a pledge to take an oath to take neither pledges nor oaths. Anyway, they interfere with his ability to bargain in bad faith.
Is The Mayor a leader? That would mean he has followers. Isn’t thinking that someone is following you a symptom of paranoia? Are you kidding? Do you see anyone following The Mayor around? He’s The Mayor of Myassa, Florida and head of the Official Monster Raving Loony Party of the United States of A Merka. Still, should he be so paranoid that he thinks someone is following him? Do you think that his constituents are stupid or something?
Politicians are the last place to look for leaders or followers. They’re everywhere! They beg, borrow, and steal to follow and/or lead us, making them exactly who shouldn’t be allowed to lead or follow. They give both leaders and followers even worse names.
The Mayor is convinced that Merkin elections didn’t come from choosing who ran the Roman Empire, as we are taught in school, but from the Golden Age of Greece. Their referendums by the citizens decided public policy and chose those persons whom the citizens wanted banished as being too dangerous to society. They were sent as far away as possible, depending upon the dangers they represented to the citizenry. Since our representatives don’t represent us, our election system must be based upon ostracizing. Our most dangerous and least desirable people are sent away to DC, which is hardly even in the US. Slightly less dangerous are state officials, and least are on metropolitan and rural councils. But our noble journalists labor on, despite the psychological and intellectual damage plus the number of muggings inherent in watching politicians, surrounding them and exposing their whereabouts, every character flaw, and inconsistency to us. Unfortunate, but someone needs to do that.
It is neither sufficient nor necessary to either lead or follow. Neither leading nor following are either sufficient or necessary. The job descriptions for leaders and followers today are anachronistic and blurred, but there is another politically traditional and time-honored choice: Self Aggrandizing Obstructionism. Since you can’t make yourself useful just act like Aesop’s dog in the manger and keep anyone else from being useful!
“Lead, Follow or Stand in the Way!” is Merkin democracy at its best.
The Mayor will neither lead you nor follow you. Y’all are on your own.

Thanks, Constance. I'm having trouble hearing you because I still have the knife stuck in my ear.

Innuendos? History? You're kidding, right? Myassa is a state of mind which is location-, ration-, and chronology-challenged but you can always get there from here.
Alana Thrower
Wonderful!! So for which office can I write you in for? All of them? Many thanks for the Chronicles!! I have to admit that I don't quite get some of the innuendos and my history is lacking. Take care Jim!! l/f/t

They beg, borrow, and steal to follow and/or lead us, making them exactly who shouldn’t be allowed to lead or follow. .." --- proves, without a doubt, that You Are THE MAN - To possibly achieve the near impossible task of - Clearing Trump's Mind ! Jim Williams replied:
The Mayor thanks you for thinking that he has boldly gone where no other person has gone before, but it's probably just the space between his ears.

Well... I won't be following the mind clearing example portrayed here. Sorry not going to happen. Being on my own is a good thing! l/f/g+/t/p
Jim Williams replied:
This is just the first layer of reamings. We expect more when the stitches in his ear heal up. Thank you, Alana.

Ouch! Someone get this crazy dude a Q-tip! Your writings called to my mind a phrase I heard last night . . . that a certain leader acts in this way: 'Ready! Fire! Aim!" . . . . .vf
Jim Williams replied:
The Mayor occasionally needs reamed out. You can see the results when left too long. Thank you, Karen.
