Congratulation on sale announcement and great.

Congratulations on your sale!!!

I am going to guess that you are John's brother. He and Dave Miller came to visit a couple of weeks ago. Harold Clyburn owns this original and it is one of my print best sellers.

Spent many hours drinking draft beer, playing pinball machines, sitting on this wall when George and Florence Banchey owned the "Shoppe". You even included a person selling snowballs thru the small window. Great painting!

Congrats on your sale Frank!!

congratulations on your sale

This looks like one of those small cities where everyone knows everybody... Great detail...

Frank Hunter replied:

Used to be a fair size city. Unfortunately like others divided by economics. This would be hilltop... then there is West End, Bottoms, East End, etc. This shoppe saw 30 years or more of teens and all sat on this wall.

I really like this a lot!

Love this delightful painting! You did a terrific job even with the wrap around canvas. Looks really good. Congrats!

congrats on your sale

Frank Hunter replied:

Thanks Kathy

Thanks Bob. I appreciate your kind thoughts and purchase. I did not know you played little league there.

I played Little League baseball at Mound Park. The Park Shoppe is right next to the park. Frank does a great job of capturing the essence of an icon in our home town.

Willy and Maggie done by Raelene was the first image we saw of her work. These two dogs have left a very dear friend. She now has the original painting hanging in her home AND this wonderful beach towel to take with her.

Raelene captured our English Cream Retriever, Bentley, so well that we had her do another pose. The beach towels are more fun and allows us to enjoy her artwork even more. Besides the two portraits of Bentley, we had one done of our German Shepherd grand-dog, Jake and had a towel done of him also.

Artist's Description

http://fineartamerica.com/shop/framed+prints/frank+hunter?page=1 Be first to have this as a bed duvet. The Park Shoppe was the cornerstone of Mound Park. There is no doubt that it was the number one hangout of the late forties, the fifties and the sixties for the youth of "hilltop" Portsmouth, Ohio. One of those kids was me. The '51 Merc convertible belonged to my best friend Al Oxley. That is Al (my team mate on our 1955 undefeated tennis team) on the tennis court. This is a companion piece to "17th and Grandview" and "17th and Hutchens". Three paintings of two blocks of 17th Street adjoining Mound Park.

About Frank Hunter

Frank L. Hunter... Portsmouth Ohio... the world to Tampa Florida What you see on this site is my "arto-biography".. Almost all illustrations in these galleries tell the story of my life. That is what an illustration does. On these sites you will find my birthplace, my travels, my loves and my friends. After more than fifty years in the advertising art business (or commercial art, as it was once called), I retired in 2007 and commenced to assemble past works and illustrate my life. I am a native of Portsmouth Ohio, and one of my galleries on this site is devoted to that city. I can honestly say that in each of my works, "I was there". I received fine art training at Ohio State University and then went to work for a major advertising art...
