Using as a wallet
This photograph was taken on the way to the summit of Piz Medel in the Surselva in the southeastern Swiss Alps. The track crosses a relatively harmless glacier before the final push to the summit. Obviously we weren't the first backcountry skiers to head to the summit on this particular day, but being as there is so much space on the glacier we were grateful for not having to put in the first track and also for knowing there would be plenty of fresh powder snow for all comers.
It probably started with a young teenager looking at NatGeo pictures and deciding that he wanted to be the next Galen Rowell. First published at seventeen, first exhibition at twenty-one, photography suddenly took a third-row back seat for a couple of decades as life unravelled in unforeseeable directions.. A couple of decades later, the re-entry to the initial passion was a decade of extreme mountaineering and the resulting photos becoming the foundation for a stock photography business. Age, not stopping at my doorstep, led me to shift priorities back to what I once dreamed of doing. Living in a small RV since 2020, I currently travel throughout Europe at a leisurely pace while stopping here and there to playfully relearn a craft I once...
