This is so cool because it's just as good as your latest work and that means that you were a great artist with your first plein air painting! YAY! The varied foreground colors are so lovely and brushwork is so free and wonderful....very definitely a Phil Chadwick painting with amazing color and light! Magnificent! l/f

Phil Chadwick replied:

Sunny... Sunny... Sunny... I value for support and encouragement so much. I am serious when I say it keeps me painting. Trying to do something better and keep learning. Art can be a way of life. Thank goodness meteorology pays the bills :>)

Karen Cattel is a special artist and her whimsical art looks great on the two sturdy totes I purchased. One is a gift for a friend and the other is for me. I love them.

I so appreciate being able to have this old-fashioned outdoor dinner scene on a tote bag. It is adorable. Thank you for making it available.

I noted that the color came out differently on this size of bag, it is distinctly more purple. I happen to love that color also--the larger size has perfect color, exactly like the photo. I love both of my bags.

Artist's Description

This was a distinctive barn on the 6th of Medonte Township in the spring of 1999. I was painting on location with an experienced artist friend of mine. Actually the barn is only a couple of kilometers off Highway 400 but it seemed like it is in another world. The farm traffic slowed to take a look but the only visitor was the red-headed lady of the farm house who came to check that we weren't poaching steelhead or doing something else crazy. The title is obviously based on the colours but it is a bit of a throw-back to the popular handy-man TV show of a similar title - although there was no duct tape in sight.

This was my first plein air painting.

About Phil Chadwick

That special connectivity gets into the pigments and you quickly realize that we are all stewards of the land, privileged to appreciate its beauty during our lifetime but responsible for leaving the environment better off for the future and all inhabitants... A meteorologist for Environment Canada for 35 years, Phil specializes in severe weather and training. Remote sensing is his forte - you might want to see a tornado before you die... but not just before you die! He has farmed, raised bees, written books and articles, lectured and instructed...
