I have been wanting to paint a portrait of my granddaughters for a long time and after paging through a wonderful book by Lucy Willis I was inspired to try her style of watercolors. I took a photo of my girls playing their piano several years ago and decided this was the portrait I needed to attempt. Even though the room isn't exactly like theirs, I used my artist's license to keep the room as simple and light as I could so the focus would be on my beautiful granddaughters and the shadows created from all the sunshine coming in the windows.
