Congrats on your sale!!! :)

Magnificently!

James Congrats on your sale!!

I flew the Connie for TWA. The painting depicts the aircraft as it was prior to 1962 after which radar was mandated and dramatically changed the nose profile. I think the painting wonderfully portrays the hope of America. Following the World War, America was booming and here was this grand product of American ingenuity majestically flitting over the American corn belt, shinny new, as were the hopes of this Country.

wow

Thank you everyone! This is one of my favorite paintings... I was a passenger once when I was a boy.

lovely painting

What a breathtaking painting! A joy to look at....

Wow !! At first I thought this was a photo. Just a super piece James.

My Uncle Nate was a captain of one of these beautiful birds. He flew for United. He is now 93! Your artistry amazes me. Very, very fine.

I received a dull black Duvet. I have been trying to get a response from Fine Art America for a replacement. of a midnight black Duvet. The on I received looked as if it had been washed with bleach. Please call (314) 740-6405. pfhoskinsharris@aol.com, I ave been told that the machinary used by some company timberland was not working. This was for my daughters dorm. I sent her address so that they could send out a replacement back on August 21st. She has not received it yet.

Many years ago, my uncle Thomas (Tom) Phillip Hufford asked me to come up with a word the opposite of predator. Amitor is that word. Ami: Fr. friend, Amigo: Sp. friend, Amity: Eng. harmony, Ami: Formosa, Taiwan. Giraffe: non predatory animal unless young attacked. Butterflies: live, love, laugh, hope. Survive, thrive and inspire others. Pen Sherwood offered to do this Amtor artwork for free sharing the copyright with me for my Amitor concept. Amitor Tom would be so proud. Diana Hays Kisselburg

Artist's Description

This is a painting of a Lockheed Constellation, Model 49. The plane was built in 1946 and was part of the TWA fleet until 1962. This one was named "The Star of the China Sea" as most of the planes in that era were christened with oceanliner-type names. My father was a TWA pilot, and I remember flying in these in the 1950's.

About James Robertson

I've been painting realistic oils and watercolors for over 15 years. Living in coastal California, I particularly like to paint landscapes and seascapes inspired by my frequent trips to the countryside.
