The Walton Lighthouse is a registered municipal heritage site situated in the Town of Walton, Hans County (East Hans), Nova Scotia. Visiting this area is highly recommended as it showcases the many historic wonders of East Hants with its tidal bores and its natural beauty. Here you will also experience an up-close and personal look across the Minas Basin (please see my previous images from this area).
The Village of Walton is a small community located in the Municipal District of East Hants, Nova Scotia; and is named after James Walton Nutting. Acadians lived in the village before the Expulsion of the Acadians. At that time the community was named Petit Rivier (little river). Before their expulsion, the Acadians built dykes and four dwellings. Later, the area was settled by New England Planters and Loyalists, and Walton became a shipbuilding centre in the 19th century.
