Description
A wedding dress, hanging from a tree, on a street, punctuated with similar scenes, located in East Detroit. Michigan a few blocks over from Heidelberg Park, an outdoor art gallery of found objects. There were no signs, information about this unusual exhibition, so I did some research; the best I could conjecture is that these dresses (hanging from trees) on this street were 'silent tributes' to women who were brutally killed and whose murders have gone unnoticed, and/or unsolved; similar to 'The Red Dress Project', an aesthetic response to the more than 1000 missing and murdered aboriginal women in Canada, promoted by artist, Jaime Black. Even so, my first reaction, upon coming upon this hauntingly beautiful, scene was one of violence, beatings, and death (lynching)!!
