Built by the Elis' for day trips out of Gloucester, the Schooner
"Thomas E.Lannon" gives visitors the first hand experience of the old days. In the painting the Lannon is approaching the entrance to Gloucester's harbor with the Eastern Point Lighthouse at the far end of the breakwater.
About Laurence Dahlmer
After spending almost forty years building and repairing boats on Smith Cove, I’ve spent the last twelve painting full time. My first work was a 4‘x18’ mural of Smith Cove, which hangs on the building that houses my gallery at 15 Rocky Neck Ave. I then proceeded in painting 147 oil paintings, concentrating on showing Gloucester’s history. My last work before escaping Gloucester for the winter in 2008 was a 4‘x24’ mural of Smith Cove, a full circle of the cove, between the two murals. On my other website www.ladarts.com I have set my paintings into the written history of Gloucester starting with Samuel de Champlains first visit in 1606, and showing the fishing industry changes through the years.
