Description
Juliet has Mitochondrial Disease and she can’t speak. Her family and loved ones understand her through her eyes. Before beginning any work on her portrait, I knew that Juliet's eyes were going to be the most important part of it. Eyes usually are in portraiture but more so in Juliet's case. Her sweet, beautiful soul shines through these eyes and one can almost glimpse in them the great wide world as she sees it.
Unfortunately, Juliet lost her battle with MIto a couple of years after I drew this portrait- just days after she turned 16. She is missed but she is no longer in pain. Rest in Peace, Juliet.
