Description
This is a painting of two Yellow-Crowned Night Herons, a species native to the New World. This particular piece started out as an afternoon study of light through Spanish moss on some trees at Ft. De Soto National Park on the west coast of Florida. It evolved from there into a scene of a moonlit sea and ultimately the artist decided to add the herons because they are often seen in the same locale. They are called \"Yellow Crowned\" but the yellow, if it can be called that, is more of a cream -in daylight- on the birds we\'ve spotted in the area where they mosey about seeking crabs under the mangrove trees.
