Nice photo although it did contain a blemish where the print was not fully laminated to the metal backing, so it had some ripples.

Dear Jeremy In 2019 we went on a cruise (small boast and 11 guests only) on the west coast of Scotland. After a dat at Loch Coruisk on Skye . The skipper said there was some rough weather coming and we needed to get round Ardnamurchan Point that night.. A 8pm we set out south, he opened the throttle a bit and we sped south in the dark with just looming lines of land. Most of us were on deack and at 10pm we passed Ardnamurchan Point. Most of us were on deck just taking in the experience, the lump of the point and the light above that. It was a memorable experience, andd very different passing to point by sea. We woke up next morning anchored off Soay. The picture captures that seagoing 'passing of Ardnamurchan Point' experience that is in my memory. Thank you. John

Artist's Description

I have not done a lot of still life paintings during the past few years. That is going to change. It is my understanding that still life paintings are the least likely to sell in galleries. I donít know why this is as we have a host of great still life artists practicing in America today. Perhaps it is because many paint still life works do not have a story to tell. When I was fifteen years old, I fell in love with Michael W. Harnettís (1848-1892) paintings. Even now at age 70, I still stand transfixed at his handling of paint and colors. It was Harnettís work that initially interested me in painting. If anyone was to be given credit for starting me out, it was this artist. I grew up in Philadelphia (the city of art) as a kid. Original Harnett works were easy to locate and view. I studied them intensely. My style of still life painting is much influenced by this study of his work. In the next few months, I will be putting up a few of my recent paintings depicting items I find in my s...

Admiring much of the work of Americas past masters such as Inness, Moran, Chase, Homer and Bierstadt, among others. He then started to generate his lifelong love of oil painting. Moving to Oregon in the early sixties, while free lancing in art, Jim was introduced to the field of architecture. Upon receiving commissions to...
