Over the Designer & Chief Train Engineer's desk was just a shelf which had a dual track. I suggested we paint it by continuing the Blue background and since it was at the opposite end of "San Gorgonio Pass, the logical landscape would include the "Salton Sea" where tracks do actually pass by the sea (I've stood on them with my easel, Painting the scene).. Once the backdrop was painted, intricately designed villages, Mill towns, and missions went in. Sifted decomposed granite was added to act as gravel along the tracks, (then glued in place) intricate wiring designs controlling directions of trains, sound, speed. Next to the Salton Sea, is the Mill beneath the mountain and the tunnels for the trains.
