Description
Tree frogs mating. Neotropical marbled tree frogs (Dendropsophus marmoratus) mating. This pair of frogs are in an embrace known as amplexus. The male (left) is on top of the female, both of whom are camouflaged, merging with the colours and texture of the tree they are on. Fertilisation takes place externally, with the male depositing sperm as the female releases her eggs. This frog, previously known as Hyla marmorata, is found in tropical and subtropical forests in the Amazon. Photographed in Ecuador.
