Jekyll Island
is known for it's Driftwood Beach
where mighty oaks have fallen
into the surf's grasp
through years of storms and tides...
This beach is also known as
Roots Beach by the locales...
At low tides, tidal pools form
as the waves recede into the bay.
The wet sand glows in the dawn light,
wrinkled as the ocean
pulls it's tides back
to reveal this very interesting beach...
A clear sky at sunrise
is rainbow hued,
the salty air is balmy,
and the quiet
of the early morning hour
sinks into sleepy bones
and the soul is quieted
as we breathe it all in...
