Triangulum Galaxy (M33, NGC 598). Also known as the Pinwheel Galaxy, this spiral galaxy is about 2 million light years away in the constellation Triangulum. It is relatively small, at around 30,000 light years across and is of type Sc, meaning that it has no central bar and has a loosely packed centre and arms. It is part of the Local Group of galaxies that includes our Milky Way Galaxy. The galaxy contains star-forming regions that contain ionized hydrogen gas (red).
