Scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of a platinum replica of a non-infectious mutant tuberculosis bacillum known as BGC. The picture was made by a new technique developed at Battelle Memorial Institute. The technique involves vacuum evaporation of platinum on the organism's surface. With such an extremely thin deposit of platinum, it is possible to better examine the organism which has been magnified. Magnification = 80,000x. Enhancement of [9N1167].
