I wanted to take a short trip to try to capture some of the last fall colors of the season. There are some many places in Washington State that I have not been during autumn so I had a lot of choices. But to keep the drive close to home, my journey let me to the Leavenworth area. The day was overcast and raining off and on. For some, this could have ruined the whole day. For me, I was loving it. The soft overcast clouds gave a mover even light and helped saturate the fall colors. I was in heaven. My only problem was I had limited daylight by the time I got to my destination. I made the best of it. Tumwater Cayonon, located just outside of Leavenworth on the way to Stevens pass was covered in fall colors. This specific image was taken at Tumwater Dam. A small group of cottonwoods were in full display of their fall Yellow leaves while being highlighted by small shrubs and other vegetation scattered on the hillside behind. The fog only added to the beautiful mood that was set by the autumn colors and the river. This was my first stop of my trip. Because of the race against losing daylight, I had to pull myself away from this spot or I probably would have been there the rest of the day.
