Very beautiful, and interesting painting. Nineteen years ago may seem like a long time, but that was when a lot of us was just begin to hone our artistic talents, and become the artists we are today. Great work! 1994 seems like a simpler time of a by gone era. I voted for this.
Naomi Richmond replied:
Thank you Joseph, I was just teaching myself watercolors then. For this painting, I woke from a dream at 3 am, put on as many wild colors as I could, put on outlandish make-up and went and sat on the living room floor. Then I cut up and taped together shoe boxes to make the barn, made the weather vane out of aluminum foil, took the lampshades off the lamps (so I could get the shadows the way I wanted them) and then starting painting. My husband got up at 6 to go to work, sees me sitting on the living room floor in my garish ensemble, just shook his head and said, "I don't even want to know" Well, curosity got the best of him and he had to know before he left for work, why I was "being so weird, and what's with all the colors" My answer? I didn't want to be distracted by trying to decide the right colors, so I put on as many as I could"

A fun piece. I like it. v

Thank you Liane, I had fun painting this. I dressed in wild colors and sat on the livingrooom floor at 3 am building the barn with masking tape and shoe boxes. I made the weather vane out of aluminum foil and straight pins. Then took the shades off the lamps to get the lighting and shadows right then started painting. My husband woke around 6 am and thought I had lost my mind when he saw me.
