Description
Gorgeous pops of color fill the fields at Wildseed Farms, just outside of Fredericksburg, Texas in the spring. Many of the fields are set out in rows of individual types of flowers, but I happened upon this variety at the outside edge of the purple petunias, which can be seen at the bottom of the photo. Additional varieties of flowers here are lavender desert verbena and gorgeous yellow and orange indian blankets, which are also known as firewheels.
There is an additional print - "Up Close in the Garden I" which perfectly compliments this work. They would be the perfect pair to bring a breath of fresh spring air into your home or office.

The Texas Hill Country is an area within the state of Texas that is much different than the rest of the state. In the Hill Country, you will think that you have found a little piece of heaven within the desert! The area is filled with rolling hills, areas of forest, grasslands, canyons, lakes and rivers, deer that roam among the homes, and gorgeous wildflowers in the spring. It is an area that runs from around Austin to the north, and San Antonio to the south. The Hill Country topography is made up of such that there are many underground aquifers that provide water to many of the major cities. The area is prone to both drought, as well as to periods of intense rain, with possible flash flooding. The El Nino and La Nina jet stream patterns, along with weather patterns coming up from the Gulf of Mexico have a major impact on the weather in the Hill County.Lady Bird Johnson (President Lyndon B. Johnsons wife) had a huge love of wildflowers. She made sure that Texas highways were supplied with enough wildflower seeds to beautify the state of Texas. Her legacy lives on, as every spring people flock to the Texas Hill Country to breathe in the scent of these beautiful wildflowersand to take pictures of their family in fields of their beloved state flowerthe Texas bluebonnet!
