Description
The image of the flag on the faade of the Exchange has become part of New York City.
In 2001, families of the 343 FDNY firefighters, 37 Port Authority Police officers, and 23 NYPD officers, who had been killed on 9/11, were invited to an evening at the Exchange. God Bless the USA was sang and as the last note was sounded, the switch was hit to light the treeand instead of white lights on the columns the lights were, in red, white and blue which painted a dramatic and beautiful flag in lights on the faade.
By the time the holidays ended, the full-sized actual flag was hung on the faade. The team rigged itand the rest is photographic history.
The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), nicknamed the "Big Board", is a New York City-based stock exchange.
It is the largest stock exchange in the world. Think of it as an organized, fast-paced flea market where buyers and sellers from all over the world come to trade U.S. stocks.
