Description
Colt State Park has been called the gem of the Rhode Island State Parks system, and not without reason. Its 464 acres contain trails, picnic groves, boat ramps, and an open-air Chapel-by-the-Sea. The lands in Bristol County were the property of industrialist Samuel Colt. In 1965 they were purchased by the State of Rhode Island and, in 1968, dedicated as Colt State Park.
