I bought this tapestry for my mother who is in the final stages of lung caner. I wanted to brighten her room and bring her some cheer. I paid extra to have it shipped Next Day Air. We received the package 5 days after ordering. However, I was very diappointed at the taperstry when I opened it. It is very blurry and distorted. The fabric is OKAY somewhat thin, but not terrible. I have ordered many tapestries from another company recently as Christmas gifts for 1/2 the price that are way better quality and very clear and vibrant. I will not order again from Fine Art America....

Excellent quality. I am so pleased with my purchase, it's much better than I imagined. The image is crisp clear and the fabric is very good quality and hemmed all around. I have bought it to hang in my apartment in Tenerife which we have called The Kestrels as these birds fly and hover around it all day. I can't wait to return and hang it on the wall.

It’s been almost two months and I still haven’t gotten my package after contacting Fine Art America multiple times. Would not buy from them again.

Is so perfect the way that this tapestry fits my bedroom wall! Love it

Artist's Description

As a form of work or punishment prisoners were made to turn the handle of a handcrank - a totally repetitive and meaningless exercise. Adults had to turn up to 14,480 revolutions a day (1,800 turns an hour) and juveniles 12,000 revolutions a day (1,500 turns an hour - about one turn every 2 1/2 seconds). The handcrank handle only worked one way and its counter could be reset to zero by warders outside the cell. On some models cups scooped sand from inside a box, carried it to the top of the crank wheel, where it fell back to the box bottom. On others pressure on a friction wheel was regulated by warders (nicknamed "screws") who adjusted weights or tightened cogs as they became loose. Later machines were self regulating
