Description
This is one of the spectacular views from the top of the trail at Toadstool Geologic Park in northwestern Nebraska. This remote park is administered by the United States Forest Service. The access road (about 13 miles long) is graveled dirt and very slippery when wet as the soil in the area has a lot of clay in it. We visited in early October - perfect! The one mile loop trail offers no shade and would certainly be brutal in mid summer. The area is known for its interesting geologic formations.

This is awesome Nikolyn!! I wish I was there.
Nikolyn McDonald replied:
It really was awesome, Joe. Because it's a pretty remote and small park and because of the nature of the terrain, the "trail" is pretty much non-existent. They have put in plenty of posts as markers, but it's up to the hikers to figure out how to get from one to the next one. And you really do end up right on top with a great view. We were really glad to have the clouds - not only did they make for some very interesting skies, they kept us cool. There is no shade at all, so without them and on a hot day, it would be brutal. Thanks for the comment.
