Description
Advanced irrigation systems mean valleys can be intensively farmed even in the Atacama Desert (the world's driest) in northern Chile. Here vineyards contrast dramatically with the barren, arid hillsides in the Copiapo Valley. This region mainly exports the fruit as table grapes, rather than supplying them to Chile's wine industry.
