Wabana is an island community in Conception Bay, Newfoundland. This island was very important during WWI as a major source of iron ore. The iron ore mine is now closed and some of the residents have moved of the island. During the summer months, tours are offered in some of the mine shafts. Many commuters take a ferry daily to the nearby cities of St. John's and Mount Pearl for work.
