Description
(Copyright Mel Steinhauer All Rights Reserved) Near the small old river town of Augusta, Kentucky on the AA Highway at KY # 1159, you will find this historic bridge. It was built in 1824 using a King and Queen Post Truss design to carry daily traffic over Locust Creek. It also carried soldiers during the Civil War. Commonly known as The White Bridge, it was still in use until damaged by flooding in 1999. The bridge was then moved 400 feet and rebuilt in 2002. Now at a small roadside park, one may relax on a bench and recall the times and history of ... Walcott Covered Bridge.
