Description
Cast in bronze, designed by Jacek Budyn and sculpted by Wincenty Kucma, the Warsaw Uprising Monument was unveiled in 1989. This huge, striking and very moving memorial is situated on Krasinski Square and is one of the most visited landmarks in the Polish city of Warsaw. Dedicated to the brave souls who fought in the Warsaw Uprising of 1944, against the Nazi occupation of their city. The fighting lasted for 63 days and was sadly, ultimately unsuccessful. In the background is the 17th Century baroque style Field Cathedral of the Polish Army, main garrison church of Warsaw and the representative cathedral of the entire Polish Army. I blended a little texture with my original photograph.
