Description
This is the second time this week I have presented you a flower named (only in Florida for some reason) as a Jasmine and the second time, the flower and plant is not a Jasmine at all. This is Santan Dwarf Ixora, which is a sub-species or cultivar of Ixora coccinea. It goes by many names around the world including: viruchi, rangan, kheme, ponna, chann tanea, techi, pan, siantan, jarum-jarum/jejarum, jungle flame, jungle geranium, cruz de Malta and many more.
If you are thinking of trying bonsai, this is a great plant for such an endeavor. This image was taken at the Audubon Society butterfly garden in downtown Stuart, Florida.
