This original acrylic painting has been awarded 2nd place in the Acrylics category of the Longmont Artists' Guild Show of June 2016. It is done from a reference photo I captured while my husband and I were on a cruise vacation to the Bahamas. We saw a flamingo show at Ardastra Gardens. What a wonderful memory. While I was painting this piece, it was Mardi Gras season in New Orleans. Even after all these years, I still miss Mardi Gras season. After I worked on this piece, I looked at it and said to myself, "Well, the background looks like a Mardi Gras party." It was not intentional. The subconscious mind is a powerful thing.
This painting was juried into Impasto Art Gallery's National Show in Longmont, CO...and the original has SOLD!
