September 2018 - An event occurs. There is a victim. There always is. We remain strong and move on because we want to survive. But the darkness will follow. It always does. There is no preventing it. And with it comes the aftermath. It feels like betrayal because we thought we won. We could not have handled the truth after the event, if we knew that it would come. Over time we accept it. We learn that the darkness is not synonymous with failure. We realize that previously, we did not win-- we survived. With the onset of the darkness, we are given the chance to prevail. When the darkness follows, what will you do with it?

This painting is comprised of acrylic paint on 140 lb cold press paper and 60 lb sketch paper.

It is said that what we are drawn to in our childhood is what we are meant to do in that life. Rahdne's earliest memories involve colors, and how they spoke to him, as if they were sentient beings. He has been coloring the world around him ever since. Color is his primary tool for creating art and he uses it to set the stage, alter mood, and evoke responses. His artwork is permeated by memories and dreams. Acrylic paint, alcohol ink, and watercolor are used to create bold, vibrant dreamscapes where he explores dichotomous layers between the truth and untruth, the spoken and unspoken, the visible and invisible, the just and unjust.
